I did my daughterly duty and ordered flowers for my mom this Mother's day. I'm not crazy about ordering flowers for delivery because they've always been disappointing no matter where I buy from or how much I spend. I saw that the Bouqs had a special BOGO Free offer via my inbox as a PayPal promotion, so I figured why not. If it's no good at least I can tell PayPal and see what kind of guarantee they have on them.
So the flowers came today in a neatly packaged box, but once I opened it I was not so impressed. The tulips were all curved over into a corner of the box and one bloom was broken off. The roses were packaged with a cardboard sheath around the blooms.
I took the flowers to the sink and cut the bottom of the stems at a 45-degree angle with a sharp knife in one direction. I added warm water to the vases. I saw that the 'recommended' directions said to 'add the flower food packet' but there were no packets included. So I just added a little sprinkle of sugar.
The tulips fanned out nicely, and the blooms were either tightly packed or not bloomed yet. Two were severely creased/ bent at the stem so I'm not sure if they are going to perk up.
The roses were meh. The instructions say to 'remove guard leaves and petals' but one bloom was so far gone I ended up removing quite a few' guard petals' and now it looks like a bud. It also was one short of a dozen.
I will say great color on both bouquets. At the end of the day, my overall feeling is lackluster. Not the worst, but not the best either.
