Libra New Moon and the 13 Days of Samhain

The Libra New Moon arrives on October 21st this year, right in the heart of Samhain season. It’s a time of powerful balance—between life and death, dark and light, endings and beginnings. Libra’s energy asks us to look at what harmony really feels like, not just how it looks. Samhain, on the other hand, invites us to slow down, connect with the unseen, and honor the ancestors who walk beside us. Together, they create a sacred window to realign with your spirit.
From October 19th through October 31st, you can move through 13 days of gentle ritual, honoring both Libra’s new moon magic and Samhain’s deep transformation. You don’t have to do every activity perfectly—this is about rhythm, presence, and care.
Day 1 – The Thinning Veil
Set the tone. Light a white or black candle and take a few quiet breaths. Journal about what Samhain means to you this year. What are you ready to release? What wisdom is asking to come through as the veil grows thinner?
Day 2 – Ancestor Whisper
Create a small ancestor altar with a photo, heirloom, or candle. Whisper thanks to those who came before you. Write down one trait you’ve inherited that you’d like to honor or heal.
Day 3 – Clearing and Grounding
Sweep or tidy a corner of your space, even if it’s just one table or shelf. As you move, imagine clearing stagnant energy. Burn a little incense, or place salt water or a cleansing crystal nearby to absorb heaviness.
Day 4 – Beauty and Balance
Libra loves beauty. Today, adorn yourself and your space. Dress in colors that make you feel soft and centered. Place a flower, shell, or leaf on your altar as a symbol of balance between nature and spirit.
Day 5 – Gratitude Notes
In the morning, write three notes of gratitude. Let them be small and sincere—warm tea, safe shelter, a friend’s message. Say aloud, “I am open to harmony and abundance.”
Day 6 – Intuitive Writing
Take time to write without thinking. Ask your intuition, What do I need to know right now? Let your hand move freely across the page. Trust what comes, even if it’s just a feeling or image.
Day 7 – The Libra New Moon
This is your manifestation day. Light a candle and set intentions for love, balance, and opportunities that align with your highest good. Journal or script your desires as if they are already true.
Morning: ground and align
Midday: journal your desires
Afternoon: embody your vision—tidy, move, or create something beautiful
Evening: release what no longer serves you and rest deeply
Day 8 – Honoring the Body
Samhain is about life cycles, and that includes your body. Take a slow stretch, a warm bath, or a mindful walk. Thank your body for carrying you through another turning of the wheel.
Day 9 – Connection and Kindness
Reach out to someone you love or send a quiet blessing to someone in need. Libra energy thrives in connection. Let your words or energy carry gentleness and care.
Day 10 – Creative Offering
Make something small—a sketch, a piece of jewelry, a few words of poetry, a meal. Offer it to your altar as an act of devotion to beauty, creativity, and the unseen helpers in your life.
Day 11 – Divination Night
Pull a tarot or oracle card, or simply sit and listen to your intuition. Ask for guidance from your ancestors or spirit guides about what to focus on in the coming months.
Day 12 – Rest and Reflection
Rest deeply. Drink something warm and comforting. Read over your journal notes or simply let yourself be still. Notice any patterns or insights that have surfaced.
Day 13 – The Witch’s New Year
October 31st marks Samhain itself—the turning of the wheel. Light your altar candles and speak your intentions for the year ahead. Give thanks to your ancestors, your spirit, and the cycles that guide your path.
Throughout this sacred countdown, remember that balance and beauty are already within you. The rituals are not about perfection—they’re about remembering your own connection to time, nature, and energy.
