Fall is a beautiful time of year, but I have to admit I can't wait for winter! It's a bummer to have allergies because stupid ragweed season ugh! I've been taking all my regular meds and still doing the allergy shots, but I'm trying something new. Stony Acres Farm in Bath NY sells loose leaf teas and they have a special blend for Allergy relief. To be honest, the ingredients are anti inflammatory so if you have problems like joint pain or headaches this might help too.
I have played around with the tarot deck since high school. I returned to it a few years ago just for fun, never serious. But it does help me think about where I am now and what I can do to change things in the future. It's definitely not a legit way to navigate your life, but I think it does help for inner contemplation. Almost like meditation, it creates a space where things are open to interpretation.
It's a cliche thing to open with but it's true right now, I'm in a weird place right now. I'm trying to get out of the house more but I'm really liking my new part time gig at Old World Cafe. It's super cute and people are so nice. It's located in Corning NY and it's a lovely city in the fall. Seriously it's like a post card. I walk down Market Street and the whole stretch of road there is a protected NY Landmark, with terracotta details and brick work on every building.
I'm also starting a new online store for tees, you should come take a look here. Misterdressup.com was the place where I first sold my scary cat tee and now it's back! I'm very excited about it. I'm also still taking care of my regular clients, writing and managing email newsletters and things for them. Social media campaigns are being planned and other things are in the works I can't talk about yet. But soon I promise!
Fall also means super cozy clothes and a chance to change up your makeup. I am working in a hot kitchen but I still want to wear cute outfits, so I love pairing my black lace-up loafers from Hushpuppies with textured woven fishnet tights and a short denim skirt and a plain tee. I also have to wear an apron, which I don't mind. I actually went to high school while Andrea Katz (Project Runway contestant) was a teacher and the apron dress is kinda her thing. I always admired her style! Last week it was starting to get cold, but this week we're expecting numbers in the 70s and 80s. I love chunky cable knits and big blanket sweaters that are open in the front. But I've been rocking my mom's old Calvin Klein denim jacket with the embroidered roses the sewed herself. There's also a bunch of fun enamel pins, for some reason they are super trendy right now. My favorite thing is the Guns'n'Roses patch and the little daisy flowers embroidered on the underside of the cuffs and on one shoulder.
More Fall Faves, a vampy lip and a new haircut! I'm loving the new bob. I miss having short hair so I just went for it. Shauna at Fringe is my favorite person. I've been doing different lip colors but LOC Tati and Revlon Colorstay Lipstain, but my favorite is the most simple one, it's a Burt's Bee lip color in watermelon. It's pretty neutral but when I do a dark color I always have to touch it up and I always forget to :(
