Friday Night in Corning, NY: From Beats to Board Games

Corning, NY might be best known for its glass, but Market Street on a Friday night proves this little town knows how to let loose.

We started our evening at Volo Bar, tucked right into the heart of Market Street. Friday night means DJ night, and Volo was already buzzing when we got there. The music was loud, the crowd lively, and the vibe, exactly what you'd want to kick off the weekend. I ordered a lemon drop cocktail, tart and sweet and perfectly chilled, just the right kind of treat after a long week.

But after a bit, the volume made conversation almost impossible (DJ nights do that), so we wandered over to Hand + Foot, just a few blocks away. If Volo is where you go to dance or people-watch, Hand + Foot is where you go to hang. The vibe was mellow and welcoming, with low lighting and that relaxed buzz of a place that knows exactly what it's doing.

We grabbed a table, pulled out some Connect Four and a deck of cards, and let the night stretch out with good conversation and playful competition. Then came the food. One of the standout moments of the night: chicken in a bag. Yes, it was literally served in a bag, and yes, it was delicious. Juicy, flavorful, with the kind of seasoning that lingers just enough to make you consider ordering another round.

So whether you're into high-energy beats or slow-paced board games, Corning’s Market Street has a little something for every kind of Friday night mood. Start loud, end mellow, eat well—what more could you ask for?
