Work-from-Home Refresh: My Favorite Desk Finds

Published December 20 2024

As a New Yorker working from home, winter is the season I spend the most time indoors—which makes it the perfect time to refresh my workspace. Whether you're in a home office or just need a small upgrade at your desk, these finds have added comfort, style, and function to my daily workflow.

✒️ Pens That Make Writing a Joy

These WRITECH gel pens are my everyday go-to. While they all write in classic black ink, the muted pastel barrels add a soft touch of color to my desk. The triangular grip makes them more comfortable to hold, and they write like a dream—smooth, steady, and satisfying.

⌨️ A Keyboard and Mouse That Feel and Look Great

After watching a few reviews, I picked up this Dierya mechanical keyboard, and it’s giving me major old-school Mac vibes. I love the tactile feedback, the clean white design, and even the optional backlighting (though I mostly leave that off). It's helped me get back to using my Desktop Mac more, which I’ve been avoiding.

The mouse looks great and has solid functionality, but a word of warning: it’s designed for right-handed users. I use my mouse on the left side, and the thumb button is essentially useless to me—something to consider if you’re a lefty.

🖥️ A Sleek New Monitor Stand (Coming Soon)

I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of a clear acrylic monitor stand to replace my old metal mesh one. It’s a subtle design change, but I think it’ll open up visual space and bring a lighter, cleaner look to my setup.

🖌️ Desk Pad That Pulls It All Together

I can’t believe how much difference a desk pad made. It replaced the old contact-paper hack I had on my drafting table and now brings the whole desk together with a soft pink hue that matches my other accessories perfectly.

📎 Pretty and Practical Desk Organizer

This compact organizer is exactly what I needed. Three compartments keep my pens and markers tidy, and two drawers hold smaller items like thumb drives. Best of all? It’s the perfect shade of pink—somewhere between baby and ballerina.

💡 A Compact Lamp That Does It All

This little LED lamp saves space and has impressive range—it goes from cool to warm tones, has a dimmer, and gets bright enough for late-night writing or sketching. Bonus: it doubles as a night light if you like a soft glow while you wind down.

Whether you're giving your home office a mini makeover or just looking for ways to make working from home a little more enjoyable, these items have added some warmth and function to my daily grind. What’s your favorite desk upgrade this season?
