Still getting my routine back in check since the holiday weekend. This post is going to be more of a photo gallery than anything else. I had a house guest for the weekend and took him around to Corning and Hammondsport near my little village in Upstate New York.

I've been living in the area for 6 years nd this was the first time I went to the Corning Museum of Glass. It was really interesting! I could have stayed longer, it's got everything. Classical, modern and commercial examples of glass, decorative glass, sculptural glass. And they have live demonstrations through out the day. I'm seriously thinking about taking a class here. It's a long way from my high school mixed media crafts class but the idea is growing on me.
Even though there's a cafe inside the museum, we took the museum shuttle bus to Market Street and went to my spot. It's a little bakery called Poppleton Bakery & Cafe. We walked over Centerway Bridge to get back to the parking lot.

Hammondsport is always fun just to wander and enjoy the lake. I came here on Sunday and it was quiet thr first half of the day. But in the afternoon many people were coming out to put their boats in the lake. It was a lovely sight.
We went to lunch at the Village Tavern. I've been here a few times and it's always a sure thing. They have burgers, fresh salads, seasonal drinks and great service. Afterward we went to this old fashioned ice cream shop, Crooked Lake Ice Cream Parlor. They have a lot of old time things on the menu, the classics like a root beer float but also I tried a cherry phosphate. It's basically seltzer water and cherry syrup, but it was delish. It was nice to see so many shops open on a Sunday, but I'm guessing it was the last hurray because of the holiday weekend.
Unfortunately my friend didn't get a chance to see any Amish people but they do live and work in this area. It really isn't unusual to see a horse and buggy coming down the street on occasion. All in all it was a really fun break from the norm. I can't wait to hoast more house guests!
